1. Do I need a doctor’s referral for physiotherapy?

You do not need a doctor’s referral for physiotherapy as physiotherapists are regulated health professionals. It is important to consult your insurance company to determine if a doctor’s referral is required for reimbursement of your treatment.

2. Why should I see a Registered Physiotherapist?

Registered Physiotherapists are required by law to have a license issued by the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario in order to practice in the province. A Registered Physiotherapist is a graduate of a recognized university program which includes both clinical and academic study. Ongoing professional development is a requirement of all Registered Physiotherapists.

3. Will the services be covered by my insurance (physio/orthotics)?

Most extended health care plans include coverage for physiotherapy and  pedorthic services. The extent of coverage varies depending upon the individual’s insurance plan. Our clinic accepts Visa, MasterCard, cheque or debit as a method of payment. You will be issued a receipt upon payment which you may then submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

We provide direct billing for RCMP, Veterans Affairs, WSIB, and motor vehicle accident clients. Motor vehicle accident clients have 100% coverage of approved treatments. We also provide assessments for the Assistive Devices Program (ADP).

4. What should I expect on my first visit?

On your first visit, your physiotherapist will conduct an assessment which will include a health history, evaluation of pain and movement patterns, strength, joint range of motion, reflexes and sensation.

Based on the information gained from the assessment, your physiotherapist will work with you to develop a treatment program and individualized goals.
